1. THE EVENT

CEBR and BioTOP Berlin-Brandenburg are proud to organise the Workshop European Maturation Models. The event will take place in Berlin on March 16, 2010 and will bring together substantial expertise in the field of project maturation.

2. THE PROJECT

The Bio-CT project deals with the necessity in Europe to build a system that enables entrepreneurs or academia to achieve, in the best conditions of rapidity and cost effectiveness, the Industrial Proof of Concept (I-PoC) that enables a real economic valorization of Research achievements (Scientific Proof of concept-Sci-PoC).This early stage development is considered world wide as the bottleneck in the chain of innovation.

The objective is to design a Joint Action Plan between Consortium members and other European Bio-Regions, that will enable any actor responsible for an early stage development to beneficiate from a variety of shared resources that will accelerate the process, make it safer and cost effective.

The central tool for this is twofold:

- A network of maturation systems that can take in charge the pre-development stage without creating a company

- A network of incubation systems that can, collectively, select, mentor, finance and nurture start-up companies, wherever they are located

3. THE CONSORTIUM

Bio-CT’s consortium is made up of the following regions and partners:

- Paris-Evry (FR): GENOPOLE

- Torino (IT): Bioindustry Park del Canavese SpA

- Cambridge (UK): ERBI Ltd (administrator of CEBR)

- Barcelona (ES): Fundació Privada BioRegió de Catalunya

- Sophia Antipolis (FR): innoTSD

- Berlin-Brandenburg (DE): BioTOP Berlin-Brandenburg

- Debrecen (HU): GND Regional University Knowledge Center

The Workshop will be integrated into the framework of the Charité Biomedical Entrepreneurship Summit 2010 taking place from March 15 until 17. Since its successful launch in 2007, the Summit has become an international forum for participants and speakers coming from various professional backgrounds in life sciences and entrepreneurship. The Charité Summit 2010 is organised to inform, motivate, and qualify researchers, clinicians, administrators and intermediaries.
